A terribly exhausting day, starting with sleep deprivation last night and dozing off for God-knows-I-lost-count-of-how-many times during class. How embarrassing ! I actually enjoyed the lecture a lot !
Rushing off to Hong Kong Street Food Stall immediately after class. The shop owner is really friendly and he is also from Hong Kong, and he even let me have a bit of his chicken soup for free !
But the queue was quite long, so as much as I gobbled down the scallion noodles in a rush, I couldn't make it on time to my Modern Icelandic Class (I only learned of it yesterday, but the first lesson was last week). It was challenging itself to learn Icelandic, and even more so when I missed the first lesson AND came late for the second one. The lecturer seemed very welcoming though. To be honest, I found her teaching a bit unclear, but well, learning is my responsibility, so I spent my whole afternoon catching up with what I missed last week.
Cool progress. Learned a couple of new Icelandic expressions. Will be delving into Icelandic phonology over the weekend so that I can speak the language ! (The mere announcement of this plan sounds like procrastination)
Revising for Icelandic at Language Centre, I had this high tea with the centre's staff and a couple of other students there. I met this guy who is Spanish, polite, and cute. He is doing Linguistics at Cambridge now. We had a lovely chat, but he headed off to his English class, so we didn't keep contact. What a loss ! (Wait, do I have a crush on him?f I've always wanted a Spanish friend. Encantado a tener un animgo espanol ! (Para estudio espagnol y hablo en Espana y la cultura !) There was also this lady talking to the staff about her learning. I chimed in of course in an unbrazen manner, and told her that I just had my first Icelandic class today. Turned out she is a professor, and she gave me a mini-lecture on old Norse vowels and English varieties lol Merci ! (She is learning French now)
A very tough week just flew past, with loads of readings. Let me not latch upon the guilt and tiredness. Look forward and drool (in sleep) over what is before me. So much more coming and to be seen !
