Cooling down after exercise is as important as warming up. I know most of the meatheads out there don't like warming up in the first place let alone even try cooling down.
But it has many benefits you should consider. By cooling down properly; your hear rate and breathing returns to normal levels slowly. You feel dizzy after a workout? It is the result of blood pooling by large muscle groups. Yeah, cooling down can help with that, too. Also, a proper cool down can help you to remove lactic acid and any other waste product that can build up during intense exercise.
So how do you do it?
- Simply walk slowly for a few minutes. Let your heart rate drop down slowly at least to 120 bpm.
- Stretch the muscles used in the workout. This will not only reduce your soreness the day after the training but also it will increase your flexibility. Don't push the pain threshold while stretching. Only do static stretches.
- Don't forget to hydrate. You have lost plenty of water during exercise. You have to replenish that back. Less water means more soreness and less flexibility. Drink water but drink it slowly.
Side Note: A cold shower can help reduce soreness and inflammation caused by the exercise.
Stay healthy and strong.
Why am I always late with these!! Pic on the left is from 2 years ago when I just ate a nonstop. I remember when I was standing there in the pic on the left I was so embarrassed at my cousins wedding, hoping no one was looking at me or taking pics. I'm glad they did, it's a huge change not only in my looks but in my personality 😋 stay kind y'all
